It is a safe and gentle but very powerful healing energy that practitioners use to restore health, vitality and wellbeing. It is often described as Universal life-force energy.

Reiki works with the body’s vital energies – the energies that power our thoughts and emotions, and also gives the cells of our bodies the power to repair themselves. Because it works with the body’s own bio-energy field, it can balance the mind and emotions, and help the body to heal itself, restoring the whole person to optimum wellbeing.

The healing effects of Reiki have been shown to work time and time again, so it’s no surprise that increasing numbers of hospitals and other healthcare establishments are using Reiki to compliment conventional medicine in the treatment of physical ailments as well as emotional disorders such as stress and anxiety.

What is Reiki?

At Beautiful Angels, anyone can experience the gentle power of Reiki healing.

How Can Reiki Help Me?
Reiki healing can help an individual in any number of different ways. Here are a few examples of how reiki could help you…

  • Deep relaxation and strengthening your wellbeing
  • Reducing levels of anxiety, depression or fatigue
  • Reducing physical pain
  • Help to manage symptoms of illness
  • Reduce the side effects of medications
  • Support and speed up recovery after injuries or surgery.

Reiki safely combines with and supports any medical intervention including surgery, medications, radiation or chemotherapy and physical therapy.

Everyone experiences Reiki in their own unique way because each person’s healing requirements are unique. Receiving a Reiki treatment is something that needs to be experienced in order to be fully appreciated.

What Happens During a Reiki Treatment?
A complete Reiki session typically lasts around 1 hour. At the beginning of the the session your Reiki practitioner invites you to ask any questions you may have or to talk about what brings you to Reiki.

Then you are invited to lie fully clothed on a treatment couch. Once comfortable you can completely relax for the duration of the treatment.

Reiki is offered through a combination of no contact, and light touch with the practitioner’s hands placed and held on or off the body in a series of locations around the head and body. The placement of the hands is never intrusive or inappropriate.

During the treatment the practitioner channels Reiki energy into your energy field and it goes to where ever it is needed to heal your body, mind and emotions.

Everyone experiences Reiki in there own individual way. Most people find that they become very relaxed during the treatment. You may see colours or images in your mind’s eye. You may also feel heat, warmth or tingling where the Reiki is moving through you.

Whatever the experience, most people finish a Reiki treatment feeling very rested and relaxed as if waking from a restful sleep.

At the end of the session your practitioner will invite you to reflect on anything that you experienced during the treatment that you may want to discuss.

What might I experience?
“I feel very refreshed and seem to be thinking more clearly.” “I think I fell asleep.” “I can’t believe how hot your hands got!” “I feel more relaxed than even after a massage.” “My headache is gone.” These are some of things people typically say after a Reiki session.

The experience of Reiki is subjective, changeable, and sometimes very subtle. People often experience heat in the practitioner’s hands, but sometimes the practitioner’s hands feel refreshingly cool. Other common experiences are subtle pulsations where the practitioner’s hands are placed or cascading waves of pulsations throughout the body.

People often comment how comforting they find the experience of Reiki to be. An interesting study reported that recipients frequently feel that they are hovering in a threshold state of consciousness, simultaneously aware of their surroundings and deeply indrawn. Some people fall into a deep, sleep like meditative state. Sometimes the experience of Reiki is dramatic, while for other people, the first session in particular may be uneventful, although they feel somehow better afterward. The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation.

Reiki is cumulative and even people who don’t notice much the first time usually have progressively deeper experiences if they continue. Besides the immediate experience of the Reiki, you may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day goes on: perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centered and poised and less reactive, and sleeping deeply that night.
